ST. CLOUD STATE

St. Cloud State University is located on the wooded banks of the Mississippi River, 65 miles northwest of Minneapolis. The university was founded in 1869, just 13 years after the city of St. Cloud, the “Granite City,” was incorporated. With more than 200 majors and over 60 graduate programs, the four-year residential, liberal art and sciences university has students from more than 80 countries. SCSU’s first season of collegiate hockey came in 1931-32, first at the Division III level and later at Division II. The Huskies moved to Division I in 1987-88 as an independent. SCSU joined the WCHA in 1990-91. The Huskies play their home games at the newly renovated Herb Brooks National Hockey Center, an Olympic-sized ice sheet with a capacity of 5,159.
